Justin HammJustin Hamm  |  President and Owner

A second-generation owner of Belt Tech, Justin’s background includes work in mining services, healthcare, IT services, higher education and government. Justin’s father Jim founded Belt Tech and Justin left a successful career in healthcare administration to lead the company. He actively works on development and planning committees for the city of Bluefield and volunteers for several nonprofit organizations. His honors include being named Distinguished Young Alumni from Bluefield College and WV’s Generation Next: 40 Under 40 from the West Virginia State Journal. Justin holds a Masters of Science degree from Marshall University’s College of Information Technology and Engineering.

Russ Helms  | Vice President of Sales

Russ began his career in the material handling industry, three decades ago and is based out of our Birmingham operations. Throughout his career, he has worked for industry leading belt distributors and manufacturers. His competent experience includes all areas of the industry – sales, service, operations and manufacturing. Russ excels in troubleshooting and finding solutions for our customer’s conveyor needs.

Charlie Owens | General Manager N. WV/VA

Charlie is the Field Supervisor and Underground  Labor  Manager for the Northern Division of Belt Tech. His expertise is Underground Mining and Belt Set-Up and Maintenance. Charlie started his career in mining in 1980 and has worked for numerous operations including Consolidated Coal Co., Murray Energy, Arch Coal, Anker Energy, Patriot Mining, and ERP Fuels Inc. He likes spending time with family, fishing, and playing the guitar.

John Owens | Safety and Asst. Manager N. WV/VA

Born, and raised in Clarksburg, WV.  John is a 3rd generation coal miner, and a veteran of the US Army. He joined Belt Tech in May 2021, as Shop Operations Manager, of the Northern WV/VA Division. Most recently, John has completed the MSHA Train the Trainer course for his Instructor Certification in the Mining, and Aggregate Industries. Having held various management positions throughout his career, John’s experience in Maintenance, Sales, and Service, makes him an asset to our company, and our customers. John enjoys spending time with his wife, and family.

Chris Hatfield | Director of Distribution

Chris began his career in the mining industry in 2005. He served as assistant director of procurement for both Hampden Coal and Blackhawk mining from 2009-2020. His experience in the industry includes materials management, procurement, operations, and billing. He has excelled in cost savings and product quality. Chris has

an Associate’s Degree in business and is also a high school basketball and baseball coach.

Bob Myers  |  Operations Tennessee

Bob has been with Belt Tech literally from the underground up. He was hired directly out of high school by Jim Hamm Splice & Repair and has been with Belt Tech from day one. His vast experience includes work with mining and material movers across the region and he enjoys bringing his wealth of experience to help solve the material moving challenges of customers throughout the region. Bob enjoys landscaping in his spare time.

Brian Burnopp  |  Operations Kentucky

Brian was born and raised in Pocahontas, Virginia. After attending UVA Wise, he returned home and found the people and processes around the production of coal to be a good fit for his career ambitions. He began working with Jim Hamm and stayed with the company as it became Belt Tech. He worked his way up to become the VP of Operations for the Kentucky region, focusing mostly on producers in the eastern part of the state.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys hunting and fishing.

William Davis  |  Operations West Virginia/Virginia

William was born in Abb’s Valley Va. After graduating Southwestern Virginia Community College. He started with Jim Hamm in November of 99. With 19 years of field experience under his belt he worked his way into Operations Manager of West Virginia/ Virginia. Willie enjoys photography in his spare time.

Tim White  |  Product Sales Manager (Central Appalachia)

Tim grew up in the coalfields of Boone County, WV. He attended and graduated from WVU Tech in Montgomery, where he was a scholarship baseball player. He has 20 years in the mining industry, five of which were spent as a purchasing manager for Massey Energy’s Aracoma Alma Mine and Blackhawk’s Speed Mine & Coal Clean Plant. Tim has served in key roles with Persinger Supply & United Central Industrial Supply and Delta Electric in Beckley, WV. His background also includes equipment rental. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and hunting.

Sam Belcher |  Operations TN

Sam was born and raised in Pound, Va where he resides with his wife and 5 children. He began my career in the vulconizing industry after high school. His experience in the industry includes; operations, material management, vulconizing, and fabrication. He enjoys his time with family and the outdoors.  

Dan White |  Account Executive N. WV/VA

Dan White has worked in coal industry for more than 21 years across the United States. With more than two decades experience, he started as an underground contractor and progressed to a respected project manager overseeing projects as large as 3 million dollars. He also worked as a supervisor, operations manager, and managed a company of 120 people. He and his son Derrick enjoy outdoor activities, including fishing and riding side by sides.

Aaron Anderson | Account Executive KY / TN


Aaron has nearly two decades of mining experience in the Coal and Aggregate sectors. After earning a Bachelor of Science focusing on Environmental Health Science and Safety from Eastern Kentucky University in 2006, Aaron has worn many hats in this industry, including Mine Clerk, Equipment Operator, Engineering Assistant, Project Manager, Plant Operator, Plant Manager, Belt Foreman, Maintenance Foreman, Outside Sales Manager, and as an Accounts Manager at Belt Tech.
Aaron will benefit our customers with his knowledge and experience. Aaron prides himself on his ability to discover problems and opportunities to raise customer production while lowering costs. He and his wife Kelly have five children, and he enjoys spending time with them in the outdoors.

Lacy Milam | ICCS Manager

Lacy Milam supervises site surveys, conveyor components, and belt cleaner installs. With a background in welding, Lacy has been in the coal industry in southwest Virginia for many years. He joined Belt Tech in 2019. He enjoys working in the coal industry and doing what it takes to keep the sites running. Enjoys adventures with his wife and children and helps my wife with her family business.
